Detailed aluminium body with engine under opening bonnet, wooden chassis and wire wheels

This wonderfully detailed model car from the 1930's is a craftsman built copy of a period Spain dizzy race car.
In the 1930's the cars were much more than static display items in that they were powered by model aeroplane engines with on-board fuel tanks, and to race they would be tethered to a central spike via a wire cable then push started on the circular track where they would race round in circles with ever increasing speeds of up to 150 mph.
The cars were exact replicas of actual race cars and were extremely popular with "petrol heads" and public alike, nowdays seen as antiques and collectors items, they command big money when sold at auction.

Our model has been lovingly reproduced from original original blueprints of the day with faux leather seating, polished aluminium body, wire wheels, opening bonnet with engine inside and a beautiful polished wooden chassis.

The model measures just under 19 inches in length and weighs only 2 kg due to the use of light weight aluminium and other materials, exactly as in the day.

This model is built in the style of the cars that raced around the famous Brooklands track in the 1930s, where speed records for both the Campbell and mountain circuit were prized achievements, both eventually being held by Raymond Mays, one of the the original drivers who started ERA, the famed English Racing Automobile team.
