This beautiful model, a replica of historic Indy racers has been copied from an early 1930's childs toy, manufactured originally buy the famous Dooling Bros. who in the day produced over 1000 units even though an expensive buy for average families.
Many of these early toys were offered to aficionados of the famous Dooling's Spin Dizzies and mini motorised race-cars that as their name implies reached dizzying speeds.
The model's beautiful streamlined styling is based on the 1930s Silver arrows cars from Mercedes, these racers from the 1930s started a new era of success in motor racing within most, if not all of the races in that era. And why in polished silver... simply a famous nurbergring race allowed only cars that weighed no more than 750 kg, and the Mercedes W 25 was 1 kg too heavy!, consequently the Mercedes team manager had all the white paint stripped off of the car to save weight and get within the 750 kg limit, revealing the iconic aluminium body, the nickname of " "silver arrows" came later after numerous victories and world wide fame.
